WORLD WAR 1

Are you able to help?

A group from Monument View Churches Together is embarking on a project to research the war casualties listed on the War Memorial in All Saints Church Penshaw.  This is an enormous task and the group has realised that your help would be very much appreciated.

St Aidan and St Oswald have already done considerable research and have produced displays in the various churches. It is intended to create a display a All Saints in time for the Scarecrow Trail on 16th September 2017.

The group has decided to restrict its research and investigations to those WW1 casualties who are actually buried in Penshaw Churchyard. It is intended to build a pen picture of each serviceman or at least to find out just a little bit of their individual stories.

Their names are:

T E COOPER
F J WELSH
R DOBIE
J BURNIP
T A AYRTON
T BEDLINGTON
J W ARTHUR
J OLIVER
A A LEROY
C WATSON
T WALKER
A JACQUES
W SUMMERS
L DAVIS

Are you, or is someone you know, related to any of those named above? Or do you know someone who has any recollection of any of these men?  Any photographs would be an added bonus.

Any information should be given to:-
